Alexa Part Deux {Alpine Photographer}

For some photo sessions

the stars all a line

the lighting

the location

the families

are perfect.

No crying babies

or grouchy toddlers

everything is just ideal.

This was not one of those sessions.

{i can say that because this is my daughter}

Who was grumpy

due to her refusal to have naps.

The evening was so hot

and the air was smoky

yes, another wildfire

and there was a dead bird?

chicken?

something.. near by that totally gave me the creeps

Even though the conditions were far from perfect

the pictures

are

PERFECTION

just like her.

Lilly..

Here is a little color for those of you getting tired of all the black and white photo's. This was a picture I took on my recent Arizona trip. Oh, how I wish Utah had such beautiful colors right now.  Here's to an early spring?!? Hope everyone has a great weekend!

A January Without Snow?

We should be bundling up, playing in the snow and then coming in for hot cocoa ..however, Utah has been hit by a crazy dry winter..so instead, we put on our new Christmas outfit (thanks Tiff and Scot) and head to the river for a photo shoot! If you can't tell, I am beyond obsessed with black and white right now!

documenting the day..

I love the family pictures where everyone is color coordinated and perfectly posed while smiling at the camera. I really do. I have them of my family all over my home. However, there is something about the unplanned photos that makes me smile. I love to capture real life. While in Arizona visiting family, I took all the kiddos outside after dinner one night to snap some pic's.  These are my favorite pictures right now.I want to have them hanging all over my walls because, this is our real life. Not always a perfectly  done up family  but this..dirty faces and socks and a screaming baby or two.. This is our real life. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love...

going out on a shoot and just following around a family while constantly snapping pictures. I will do a few pictures of them posed but the ones I l.o.v.e. are the pictures I get when they don't know I am taking them. Sometimes, people get stiff and look unnatural when a camera comes out and the pictures don't turn out as well. This was a picture I snapped of my Dad and my little Alexa. I think it is so sweet!
